The Ultimate Savory Steak & Comfort Platter

Yields: 4 Servings | Prep time: 20 mins | Cook time: 45 mins
1. Garlic & Herb Steak Strips
The star of the show. High heat is key to getting that beautiful sear seen in the photo.

Ingredients:

1.5 lbs Flank steak or Sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
1 Bell pepper (red and green), sliced into strips
1 Small onion, sliced
3 Garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp Soy sauce + 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika to taste

Instructions:

Marinate: Toss the steak strips with soy sauce, Worcestershire, and spices. Let sit for 15 minutes.
Sear: Heat a large skillet over high heat with a splash of oil. Sear the steak in batches (don't crowd the pan!) for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
Sauté: In the same pan, toss in the peppers and onions. Sauté until tender-crisp.
Combine: Add the steak back in, toss with the vegetables for 1 minute, and remove from heat.

2. Seasoned Savory Rice

This rice absorbs the juices from the steak for maximum flavor.

Ingredients:

2 cups Long-grain white rice (rinsed)
3 cups Beef broth (instead of water)
1 tbsp Tomato paste (for that golden color)
1 tsp Onion powder & 1 tsp Cumin

Instructions:

Sauté the dry rice in a little oil for 2 minutes until slightly toasted.
Stir in the tomato paste and spices.
Add the beef broth, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low for 18–20 minutes. Fluff with a fork.

3. Creamy "Southern Style" Mac & Cheese

Notice the thick, custard-like texture in your photo—that comes from using a blend of cheeses and a bit of baking.

Ingredients:

1 lb Elbow macaroni
4 cups Sharp Cheddar & Monterey Jack (shredded by hand)
3 tbsp Butter + 3 tbsp Flour (to make a roux)
3 cups Whole milk
Secret touch: ½ tsp dry mustard and a pinch of cayenne.

Instructions:

Boil pasta until just undercooked (al dente).
The Sauce: Melt butter, whisk in flour for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 3 cups of the cheese until smooth.
The Bake: Mix the sauce with the pasta. Pour into a dish, top with the remaining cheese, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes until bubbly.

4. Honey-Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Those orange cubes add the perfect hint of sweetness to balance the savory steak.

Ingredients:

2 Large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 tbsp Olive oil
1 tbsp Honey or Brown sugar
½ tsp Cinnamon

Instructions:

Toss sweet potato cubes with oil, honey, and spices.
Spread on a baking sheet.
Roast at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes until edges are caramelized and centers are soft.
Plating Tip
To get the look in your photo:
Fill the bottom half of a container with a generous bed of Rice.
Lay the Steak and Peppers across the top of the rice.
Scoop the Mac & Cheese into one top corner.
Place the Sweet Potatoes in the other corner.
Enjoy your meal! 😋
