Cook time: 40-45 mins
Ingredients
4 turkey cutlets (approx. 500g)800g potatoes (floury or all-purpose varieties work best)
200ml heavy cream (or light cooking cream)
100g shredded cheese (Emmental or Comté)
1 onion
2 tbsp olive oil
Seasoning: Salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and slice them into thin rounds. Boil them in salted water for about 10 minutes (they should be tender but still hold their shape). Drain and set aside.Cook the Turkey: While the potatoes are boiling, dice the turkey cutlets into bite-sized pieces. Finely chop the onion. In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onions until translucent. Add the turkey and brown the meat on all sides. Season with salt and pepper.
Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cream with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
Assemble the Gratin: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Grease a baking dish.
Place a layer of potatoes at the bottom.
Add the turkey and onion mixture on top.
Cover with the remaining potatoes.
Bake: Pour the cream mixture evenly over the dish and sprinkle generously with the shredded cheese. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Tip: For an extra kick of flavor, you can add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the cream or press a clove of garlic into the onions while sautéing the turkey!
